Daniel T. "Dan" Derrick, Sr. Dan was born and raised in Lake Geneva, WI.
He is a graduate of Badger High School in Lake Geneva and a graduate of the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee, WI. Dan has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1966.
He and his wife Sandy, have three children and four grandchildren. He is a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Geneva and a former member of the Parish Council and Trustee.
At present, Dan is a lector and lay minister of communion. He is a member and past president of the Lake Geneva Rotary Club.
He has been associated with the Lake Geneva Fire Department since 1972 and is a Certified Firefighter II, certified incident Safety Officer and licensed Emergency Medical Technician.
Currently, he is the Deputy Fire Chief. When asked why funeral service? “ I became interested in funeral service through my grandfather who was a large influence in my life and whom I loved and respected dearly.
I would sit with him as embalmed and was fascinated by the respect he showed for each person in his care, regardless of who they were of what walk of life they came from.
His amazing skills fascinated me as I watched him restore that person, no matter how difficult it was, to what they were before.
I was impressed with the kindness and compassion he showed to each family he served and his dedication and commitment to them. I decided I wanted be just like him.”
